James Kalm spent this Sunday afternoon touring the Lower East Side visiting galleries and talking to artists, so by the time he finally pedaled the eight miles through Brooklyn traffic to this neighborhood in Ridgewood Queens it was nearly 6:00pm, closing time. But, using his best means of persuasion, your correspondent smoozes his way into an after hours viewing. Michael Byron presents examples from two bodies of work that play with the Post-Modern concept of painterly representation and trompe l'oeil. Stacy Fisher brings a playful and colorful attitude to her sculpted forms and teases the viewer by playing their sculptural preconceptions against them. A musical introduction is provided by Juan Antonio Garcia on sax, and James Labrosse on guitar.
