Mickalene Thomas has recently emerged as a major painting talent, This two gallery show is running concurrently with a one person exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum. The first segment of this program features the opening of a photographic and video memorial to her recently passed mother Sandra Bush, and includes an installation tableau which viewers are invited to sit in while watching the artist's first documentary video "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN". The second segment features a viewing of Mickelene's recent paintings at the gallery's Lower East Side venue.
