Some Thursdays are just too full of great openings to concentrate on one so, James Kalm brings viewers this doubleheader of great art. Lari Pittman emerged in the mid 1990s with a unique vision of West Coast painting. His use of graphic styles, masked paint forms, spray paint and text propelled him to international prominence. Frank Stella's "Geometric Progressions" at Paul Kasmin is a timely review of some of his most recognizable paintings. This series, from the late 1960's, is a very relevant exhibition for younger artists newly attracted to high Formalism and Late Modernist artistic theory
