With an active painting career stretching back over a decade, Alison Fox decided to take on the challenges of motherhood. After a several year hiatus, this recent series of paintings are her reentry into the painting fray. These intimately scaled works have echoes of several Modernist tropes including as Roberta Smith stated in a 2005 New York Times review, " ham-handed Cubism...textiles and perhaps baskets" and that they're "...operating in terrain bordered by Dana Schutz, Jessica Stockholder and the British painter Howard Hodgkin".
