Adam Simon considers himself a conceptualist, a figurative artist and an abstract painter. He's been collecting stock photographs and clip art for years. For his latest exhibition, he begins his paintings by selecting a figure making a gesture that appeals to his abstract sensibilities. Then through a painting process that rarely employs brushes, he constructs an image using stencils and rollers. The resultant pictures relate to "New Image" and "Color Field" painting and expose Simon's inventive painting techniques. This program begins with an introductory performance featuring the musical trio "Sullied Accolades" and Matthew Silver.
